Matthew Johnson Prayer Request
This is an urgent prayer request sent to everyone I can think of
and whose e-mail address I have.
Please pray for Matthew Johnson, a 14 year-old former classmate and
close friend of our son Donnie who lives in Manhattan Beach,
California. Many of you know that Matt has been fighting leukemia
for over two years and many of you have been praying for him with
us. He had a bone marrow transplant from his sister last December
and has been doing fairly well up until now. He had a wonderful
summer and was able to enroll at Loyola High School in Los Angeles
this past week.
However, Matt’s cancer is back and he had to return to Long Beach
Memorial Hospital last night and they put him in the critical care
unit. For those of us who are parents, it is difficult to imagine
the turmoil his parents, Thais and Mike, have had to face, and now
this. There attitude has been so incredible, they were an
inspiration to us when we visited them at a fundraiser for Matt
this past June. To tell you the truth, I really thought Matt was
going to be out of the woods soon, so this news just knocked my
socks off.
I hope you don’t mind my asking for additional prayers, in fact,
please don’t stop praying and ask everyone you know to pray! I am
a firm believer in prayer, my life is an example of prayers
answered, and I believe God will answer our prayers in some way,
even though it might not be exactly as we wish. No matter what
your personal relationship with God is or isn’t, I still believe He
will hear your prayer, especially an unselfish one for such a
wonderful boy and his family. Remember, all the good that we do
does come back to us a hundredfold. I treasure your friendships
and I especially treasure your prayers. I will keep you posted as
to Matt’scondition. Until then,
let’s not give up and let’s keep those prayers going! Thank you,
and may God bless you generously for the love you share with the
world.
